The ancient Kushika Clan was inherited from the Rajrishi Vishwamitra ji; who was decorated with "Brahminatva" inspite of him being a Chhatriya Suryavanshi king. He was popularily known as "Kaushik Rishi", which later became the higest regarded Gotra in Brahmins and it was called-"Chakit Gotra"
